NYC: Day 3 (Woodbury Common) & Day 4 (UWS, CPW, LC, The Rock)

Day 3 was shopping day at Woodbury Common. Roughly an hour away from Manhattan by bus and with approximately 250 brands present, we decided to spend a whole day there. Too busy looking around to take many pictures.

Breakfast from Zabar's at 80th and Broadway, right across H&H Bagels. As soon as the deli opened by 8am, it was instantly filled with regular customers who knew exactly what they wanted to get. Undecided new customers like me were almost like a nuisance during the Sunday morning rush.
Heavy breakfast: vegetarian quiche and coffee, not shown here are chocolate croissant and Queen J's norwegian salmon sandwich with about half an inch of cream cheese
I turned a shade darker after walking around the whole day without sunscreen.
Day 4 - Upper West Side, Central Park West, Lincoln Center, The Rock, Theater District

From my fourth day onwards, I would be sightseeing on my own until the early afternoon. Decided to lounge around a bit in our hotel room on Monday morning before heading out to the American Museum of Natural History. Today was the start of the heat wave. Since I was too lazy to carry a bottle of water around, I was dehydrated by midday and felt lethargic and sleepy. My heels and ankles also began to hurt from walking around in footwear without support. Over the next couple of days, I would regret choosing Sam Edelman gladiators over my Adidas trainers as I limped around NYC trying to go to as many places as my uncooperative ankle could handle. Anyway, after Queen J and I met up, we walked around the Upper West Side, stopped by Lincoln Center, then proceeded to go up The Rock. We didn't realize it was already late until we descended from The Rock and found that most shops were already closed. We wanted to have one nice dinner for a change; unfortunately, Sardi's in the Theater District was closed on Mondays. We also never got to go back after that. Only because we were tired and hungry, we had dinner at Bubba Gump (!!!) where had to put up with our overly perky server. Oh yeah!

Lining up the cute cans of Coke from our hotel fridge.
Discovering the 24hour Westside Market 4 days into my trip. I finally had access to cheap water and fresh fruits that are not available in Manila or even HK.
Nice apartments on the Upper West Side
77th St facade of the American Museum of Natural History
Front entrance was under renovation.
My favorites from the gigantic museum. I wish that I had more time and that there were less tourists for a more quiet stroll around the museum.
Salty, overpriced museum cafeteria lunch that added to my dehydration
Southeast Asian collection included pieces from the Philippines.
Along 72nd St on our way to Central Park West
Behind Queen J was the Dakota where John Lennon was shot and where Yoko Ono still lives.
Right across the street, entering Central Park from the 72nd St: Strawberry Fields, snow cone, Bethesda Fountain, Boat House. Queen J wanted to ride a row boat. I deemed this a waste of time, then later on saw this listed in Time Out's 1000 Things To Do in New York. Maybe another time?
Spotting ABC's office on our way to Lincoln Center
Stopping by Europan Cafe to rest and refresh. Didn't realize there would be terrible coffee in NYC!
One of the sidewalk performers outside The Juilliard School, across Lincoln Center. This cute pianist looked up and smiled at us when he saw me taking his photo.
Lincoln Center, notice the announcements lit up on the sides of the steps?
Spotted Fordham University on the other side of the Lincoln Center
On the subway to 50th St to go up The Rock. These passengers in my photo were looking into our camera and smiling!
The Rock offers a view of both the ESB and the Chrysler Building. Twilight was the perfect time to go up.
Crystal in the Swarovski panel in The Rock plus the Swarovski chandelier from the bottom
The site of the ice skating rink during winter. I would love to go back to NYC during winter to skate in one of the outdoor rinks.
Finally finding Sardi's only to discover it's closed on Mondays
Finally, dinner of veggie burger at Bubba Gump. One of the things I loved most about NYC was the availability of vegetarian dishes everywhere.
Another day of exhausting sightseeing came to an end. Walking around NYC would have been wonderful if not for the stifling heat. Add to that my painful ankle which overnight rest wouldn't be able to heal. Still, 3.5 days left and many, many more places to see. Till my next NYC posts.
